Britney Cawkwell is a multi-faceted creative with a dual interest in Stage Management in Graphic Design. In the environment of live theatre, she thrives on the Stage Management team, using knowledge as an ASM, DSM, and SM paired with her calm presence under pressure, and organisational and detail-oriented prowess to ensure projects run seamlessly. With years of experience in community and pro-amateur musical theatre, she is currently in her first year of study at Queensland University of Technology to further her abilities in a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Production). She excels in coordinating and adapting to diverse teams, managing tight schedules and unexpected challenges head-on. She believes in the power and benefits of great teamwork, relishing in the challenges and benefits of orchestrating magic behind the scenes.
In the realm of Graphic Design, she has channelled her interests into her style and portfolio, working as the graphic designer and social media manager for Crescendo Theatre Company as well as creating freelance character designs. Her distinct style and proficiency in design software allow her to create detailed visuals over a range of mediums, from digital to print. She is interested in trying new mediums and consistently embracing new trends and technologies in her art. Alongside commission work, she implements her work into theatre through the design of programs, projections, posters, and painting of physical set pieces. She understands the importance of collaboration and client feedback, ensuring that each project resonates with the unique vision and objectives of her clients.
Her dual expertise allows her to bridge the worlds between performing arts and visual arts, creating a unique niche and synergy in her works. Whether coordinating a stage performance or creating commission work, she aims to deliver excellence and a lasting impact. She embraces the challenge of balancing the art of organisation with the organisation of art, offering a blend of creativity and precision that sets her apart as a creative.
